Uptime MilestoneJanuary 14, 2006
Flyingpenguins.org has now been up for 300 days without a reboot. That beats most of the servers we have at work which are housed in a real data center. The dustbunnies inside the case are surely dancing for joy!

Variety of UpdatesSeptember 3, 2005
Flyingpenguins.org is now over 30 users and 5 years old! Yippee! To celebrate these milestones, we have upgraded to MySQL 4.1 from 3.2, upgraded PHP to the latest version in the 4.x series, security updates for CVS, Python to 2.4.x and installed a new battery backup to replace the old "dumb" one. As usual, please report any problems with these services or drop us an email with any that you think you would use.
UpdateMarch 7, 2005
Despite the lack of updates, Flyingpenguins.org is up and running better than ever. Now hosted on a 1.5/384k DSL circuit with a static IP, you can expect far better speeds than at any of our previous hosting locations. Because of this, we are now hosting the following domains in addition to flyingpenguins.org

BJ Faught, owner of ducalpoly.org has also installed Resin on the system, so you are now able to run JSP pages on flyingpenguins.org in addition to PHP, SHTML and regular HTML.

I'd like to give a big shout out to Nate over at naraku.net for hosting flyingpenguins.org for the summer. The faster DSL connection is nice and will be appreciated by all! Also of note, several user accounts have been cancelled for various reasons including abuse of system, inactivity and running IRC related processes. Hopefully everyone is enjoying their summer!

The end is in sight. Flyingpenguins.org will be going down for an indefinate ammount of time on May 24th due to my loss of a high speed connection. If you're interested in hosting it for free or for at a very low charge, I'll happily listen to you.

We've also started hosting a mud on port 4000 of flyingpenguins.org. This is a development MUD called arantha which is looking quite promising. I wish them the best of luck in their future development! Be sure and try out their software when released!
